A day in the life

 So, A & I decided to share a smoothie on our way to the store.  Z was already at school, which means we'd both get a little more.  He's a smoothie hog.  It turns out getting it to go was a bad idea...

The kids love to play in the toy section at Target.  I tried to get A to carry a doll in this little carseat, but she tossed it aside & hopped in herself.

We found this creepy little friend in the hallway.  I think he came from underneath the house.  The hall bathroom currently has no floor.  So, I'm guessing he came in under the door.

We trapped him under a glass to check him out before we flushed him.  We had some friends over just after I found him.  Our baby friend (also an A) tried to free the spider a few times, which induced a lot of screams (mainly from the momas).

A has now decided that she needs to sit on the potty.  She hasn't gone yet, but she's been asking to sit on it a lot now.

I got the kids some funny glasses for their dress up bin.  Z thought they were so funny.  When I was putting his jammies on him, he put the glasses on, & ran around naked for like twenty minutes.  I absolutely love this sweet little face.

Sleeping Beauty

A fell asleep on our way to pick up Z from school today.  Most days she does this, I can just transfer her to the crib, but she decided that screaming her head off was a better option this time.  Let's just call these next few pictures payback for when she's older.

A Day for Dead Bugs

Z & I spent a gorgeous afternoon outside while A took a nice long nap.  We had a busy day running around, & had lunch with some new friends.  It was so nice to have time with just Z.

He started out on the dilapidated swing set left by the pervious owners of our house, but then I found a dead cicada.

Z is especially great at finding bugs.  Quite often he'll drop a wiggling bug right in my hand.  So, we were very excited to find such a large bug to check out.

I even got him to touch the wings!

Not five minutes later, we found two dead hornets.  Z thought the yellow spots on their backs were pretty great.

We had a blast just hanging out, & enjoying some cooler weather.  I can't wait until it's cool enough for jackets!

In our backyard we have an abundance of acorns.  They are beyond obnoxious.  So, when I saw this on Pintrest, I immediately saw us launching acorns off the deck.

It took about two seconds to make.  I already had everything in the house.  And, talk about fun!!

It occupied Z for like fifteen minutes straight (which is a big deal for him).  He even came back to play with it two or three more times.  The pups LOVED trying to catch the acorns, & I got in about forty-five minutes of target practice at them.  It was so awesome.

A Little Bit of Everything

Second post in, & I'm already slacking.  I need to try to get a little better at posting on here...

We've had a busy few weeks around here.  T came home, Z started preschool, & we started remodeling our bathroom.  It's been really weird having Z gone 5 mornings a week.  I really miss him, but man is it great to have a quiet house.  Even if it only lasts a few hours.

He insisted on wearing his sunglasses in his first day pictures.  He puts them on, & tells me, "cool, dude."

Then, he flapped his "wings," & pretended to be a bird.

This is just so him.

He is loving school so much.  His favorite "messon" (lesson) is snack.  That seems to be the only one he can ever remember.  He also likes to talk about playing in the "back yard" at school.  That's what he calls the playground.

His teacher gave him a bag to decorate, & make his own.  So, we busted out the paints, & went to town.

A did a little painting, too.

I didn't get a picture of the completed bag.  This one was about halfway through:

A & I have spent most of our free time cleaning the house.  But, we've still made time to go to Zoo Tales at the Virginia Zoo & Babygarten at the library.  Here she is just being a ham.

The zoo is one of our favorite places to visit.  We go there a few times a week.  This is A's impression of a tiger:

We had a monkey come right up next to us, & eat out of his box of food.  He would take a few bites, then drop it to the otter.  After a few times, the otter started to beg.  A kept laughing & pointing at him.  We also got to see the monkey pee.  Doesn't get much better than that.

They were doing some work on the giraffe enclosure, so we got to watch them up close.  This was definitely the best part of the day

Maybe someday soon I'll get more responsible, & stick to something I start.  But, knowing me, someday may be a long way away.
