KCWC: Day 3

Kids Clothing Week Challenge!

Day 3: A's cape

When I came across this sweater fabric, I knew she needed something out of it.  I've been pinning pictures of capes for weeks, & thought it might be fun.  I ordered this book which has some awesome patterns in it ( I can't wait to make the backpacks).

It turned out so cute.  I lined the hood with hot pink flannel, so that it would be extra soft.

It seems like a trend here with the crying pictures.  I keep finishing my projects right at bedtime.  At least she's well dressed for her tear fest.

KCWC: Day 2

Kids Clothing Week Challenge!

Day 2: A's Christmas dress

This fabric is so hard to photograph.  Walking five feet to get the real camera is a little too much to ask when I'm spending all day sewing & taking care of both kids.  So, a cell phone picture will just have to do.  It's actually gold lamae, & very pretty in person.  Don't let the crazy orangey-brown pictures fool you.

The black is silk.  Nothing fancy color wise.  I didn't want it to compete with the gold.  But, I love silk.  If I could wear it all day, every day; I would.  There's just something so luxurious about silk.  It makes you feel pretty.

I followed this tutorial while making the dress.  I'd never sewn with either of these fabrics, or sewn a fully lined dress before.  I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out.  I sort of expected it to be an epic fail.  But, the tutorial was so simple, & it went very smoothly.

I've also never sewn ruffles before.  This dress was just full of firsts.  Again, so simple.

I had planned on putting in an exposed zipper.  But by the time I got to that part, A was fussy, & I just didn't feel like it.

I did however feel like digging through my collection of vintage buttons to find the perfect one.  The little slit on the back looks so sweet when it's on.

A was NOT having it.  She was mad, & just wanted to wear her rain boots & be left alone.  The terrible twos have hit our house at full force.

Hopefully she'll be a little happier on our Christmas cards.

KCWC: Day 1

Kids Clothing Week Challenge!

Day 1: Freezer paper stencils

The kids were up too late, & I was ill prepared.  I thought the challenge was next week.  Oops!  Good thing I already had some shirts ready to go.

Simplicity was very important tonight.  The whole project took thirty minutes!  I used a ruler to get some straight lines, cut them out, & ironed them on.

Next came paint.  A picked out the colors last week.  Purple for her, & green for Z.  I wanted to do something big on his shirt, but it had a pocket & I was too tired.

I let them dry for a few minutes before pulling off the paper.

They turned out pretty cute for being so last minute.

*The kids were very excited to wear them on Tuesday, but A changed her clothes too quickly for me to get a picture of them together.  I'll get one eventually.

Long Overdue

It has been a crazy few weeks here without T.  We miss his so much.  Thankfully both kids have done extremely well this time, which is somewhat bittersweet.  I'm glad they're doing well, but it's sad that we're adjusted to not having T home.  I'm hoping this will be the last time he has to leave for awhile.

Now, onto a long overdue update.

Tuesday was Target day.  A was head over heels for this giant cupcake bank.  There were many tears when I put it back.

Napoleon & Josephine have not made many appearances on here yet.  They may be turds, but they sure are sweet.

While I was folding laundry, A decided that she really needed to put on her jammies.  I've had to stop folding their clothes in front of her, because she gets too excited.  She'll start grabbing clothes, & before I know it, has changed her clothes three times before I've finished.

Both kids were jumping on the couch, & not listening to my repeated request for them to stop.  This is Z's "I'm not disobeying" smirk.

Wednesday was such a pretty day.  A & I played outside almost all morning.  I have no idea why, but she took her shirt off.  She is so opinionated about her clothes.

That is the cutest little belly!

She has discovered the bar.

Here's how it goes down:

She starts with a nice push off.

Then, pulls up her legs, & swings.

And, finishes it off with a ton of giggles.

Thursday morning was all about the sunglasses.

Even after Z was at school, A wore them around the house.  That girl is something else.  She got that tiara in a kids meal on our drive to Virginia in May.  She wears it all the time.  I'm surprised it's lasted this long.

My phone is not cooperating with me for some reason, so this is all I've got for now.  I'll try to update more tomorrow (provided the kids & my phone both behave).

Monday Monday

If you sang along to that title, consider yourself my best friend.

Long day today.  Cleaned the whole house, A took a late nap (ended up staying awake until 10:30pm), & Z did this:

He loves the dress up bin.

Also, I found a heart shaped potato while cooking.  It's the little things in life...

Our Weekend

Saturday started off with a bang Napoleon sandwich.  A loves those pups more than anything else.  She is constantly giving them hugs & kisses.  I think they love her just as much.  Check out her cutie slippers.

We just had a lazy day relaxing around the house.  Both kids had colds all week, so it was nice to have a rest day for them to kind of get over it.  However, we did go out to rent a movie from Redbox for popcorn movie night (they had like three to choose from, & they all sucked).

She loves her sunglasses.

A spent the entire day pointing to her shirt saying, "SEE. SEE."  She had to show me the pup, & then give it a kiss.  It was her first time wearing this shirt.  It says "pugs & kisses" on it.  How fitting.

Z refused to stand by A for a picture.  But he was more than happy to climb up the outside of the railing to pose for his own picture.

Napoleon is such a turd.

I have been waiting for cooler weather so that A could wear this shirt!  It was my mom's shirt when she was a baby.  I'm not sure who made it for her, but it is by far my favorite shirt that I have for A.

This one just cracked me up for some reason.

He just has the sweetest little face.

Here they are all dressed for church.  Yesterday I collected some clothes that the kids have outgrown, & A helped herself to the bibs out of the tub.  They are such goofballs.

They made quite a mess before church.  A dumped two different puzzles (Z opened them for her).  I still haven't cleaned them up.

She tries so hard to put her tiara on herself.  It always ends up on the back of her head.

Here is the princess pushing around her babies.

We sat in the nursing babies room, because A won't stay in the nursery.  She made herself comfy in the bouncy chair.

Z makes me smile.  He came up to me this afternoon, & said, "Moma, make a happy smile like this."

I'm not sure what kind of face he was supposed to be making here, but he kept asking me to take his picture.

While all of those funny faces were being made, this is what A was doing.  I tried laying her down three times before giving up & snuggling.

Z has figured out how to get the pennies out of my change jar.  It's a gallon size glass jug that he dumps over on the rug.  Of corse, it woke A up, & they both rushed to their rooms to put the money in their piggy banks.

A was still pretty sleepy.

We finished off the night with some hot dogs & mac 'n cheese.  Overall, it was a pretty nice weekend.
